UNESCO approves pattern for contract extensions, now confirmed as 5 years for staff hired between 1 January 1996 and 31 December 2010

Dear STU members,

It is with great enthusiasm that we learn of the approved pattern for contract extensions, now confirmed as 5 years for all the ICTP and TWAS Staff hired between 1 January 1996 and 31 December 2010.
This comes as the happy ending of a long process which has been conducted through the past 6 years by some of our colleagues in the first person, with the firm and constant support of STU.
We take the opportunity to thank Profs Quevedo and Murenzi - and indeed Ms Svetlana Gorodetskaya - for their positive attitude towards the staff rights and consideration of the importance of a serene work environment.
